Hawthorn forward Greta Bodey will notch up her 50th AFLW game on Friday night against Richmond at Cazalys Stadium, Cairns.

It's a full circle moment for the 28-year-old, who first picked up a Sherrin while on placement in Cairns, spending some time with the Cairns Saints in the process.

Born and raised in Brisbane, Bodey played soccer for most of her career before crossing over to Aussie Rules.

From there, she was drafted to the Brisbane Lions as an Other Sport Rookie ahead of the 2020 season and played 42 games for the club.

The star forward won a premiership with the Lions in 2021 before winning the club's goalkicking award in Season 6 and becoming an All Australian in Season 7.

Since coming across to the Hawks ahead of the 2023 season, Bodey has averaged 8.1 disposals and 4.7 tackles in addition to her four goals for the season.

It is exciting enough for Bodey to achieve this milestone so quickly in her career, but to do it in Cairns is truly a dream come true.

"It's pretty surreal to play my 50th at Cazalys," Bodey said.

"Cairns is where I first picked up a footy four or five years ago.

"I think I played one of my first ever games at Cazalys Stadium so five years down the track to come back here for my 50th game is surreal.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet."

Hawks fans can watch Bodey and her team in-action at Cazalys Stadium from 6.45pm AEST on Friday night, or on Channel 7, 7+ or the AFL/W Official Apps.
