Young gun Massimo D'Ambrosio has led the way in Hawthorn's Round 1 coaches votes following his impressive brown and gold debut on Saturday afternoon.

D'Ambrosio stood tall in the Hawks' 24-point loss to Essendon, tallying a career-high 29 disposals to go with eight score involvements and four marks, resulting in him polling six votes from the coaches.

Co-vice captain Dylan Moore was ranked next best by the coaches, polling two votes for his team-high three goals. 

The talented forward also recorded 17 disposals and took seven marks.

Midfielder James Worpel rounded out the votes for the Hawks thanks to his 28 disposals, 19 contested possessions and 10 clearances.

The 25-year-old also kicked a goal in a solid first outing for 2024. 

The Hawks will now look ahead to their first home game of the season against Melbourne this weekend.
