I'LL BE honest and say I didn't know what to expect on the way to the Ashley Youth Detention Centre in Tasmania yesterday.

Heading out there, I was feeling a bit hesitant but once we got there it was a fantastic experience.

It was my first time at a place like that. Walking in, you see the big gates and barbed wire fences but once you get in there everyone is quite nice. We had a kick of the footy with the boys there and I didn't expect them to have as many skills as they did. They touched us up on occasions.

On Tuesday we held a clinic in George Town which happens to be the hometown of our Box Hill coach Brendan Bolton.

They gave him a good wrap down there. They said he was one of the best players they've ever had but funnily enough I couldn't see a photo of him up on the wall.

We are divided into little groups so at the moment I'm with Jordan Lewis, Matthew Suckling, Will Sierakowski and Jordan Lisle. There is another group down here as well and we are all staying at the country club, which is pretty close to the golf course and tennis courts.

Being in smaller groups gives you a chance to bond with the senior guys away from the footy club.

Lewy has taken over the driving and he's great at the clinics. He gets us younger boys organised and helps us out with the public speaking. I think he's got plenty of leadership qualities. The kids are a lot more interested in Jordy than they are in us but we do get a little bit of attention.

The support for the club down here never ceases to amaze me. We've got quite a few members in Tasmania now. Everyone down here seems to barrack for Hawthorn and I can't wait to get back here for our games.
