Scans today on Cyril Rioli’s shoulder have shown bone bruising to the scapula and deep muscle bleeding around the nerve.

Rioli injured the shoulder in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Port Adelaide.

At this early stage, the Club anticipates Rioli will miss approximately 2-3 weeks.

Hawthorn’s General Manager - Football Operations Mark Evans said the Club will have a better gauge of Rioli’s return date in coming weeks.

“We will be in better position to determine a timeline for Cyril’s return when the injury site has settled and he resumes training,” Evans said.

“Cyril will progress over the next few weeks as function in his shoulder allows,” he said.

Meanwhile, Josh Gibson has been cleared of any major damage to his ankle.

He will be assessed throughout the week.
