HAWTHORN has strengthened its key position forward stocks by selecting two athletic forwards in Thursday night's NAB AFL Draft.

The Hawks didn't enter the draft until selection 28, in which it used to select Tim O'Brien, a tall forward from Glenelg in South Australia.

O'Brien is a 193cm forward whose pace and overhead marking his strengths.

He impressed in the NAB Under 18 Championships by averaging 2.2 goals per game and made a name for himself as an accurate kick in front of goal.

At selection 66, the Hawks opted for another forward, West Adelaide's Kaiden Brand.

The 198cm Brand is a player with explosive pace whose awareness of how to play as forward, combined with his marking ability makes him a dangerous forward option.

O'Brien and Brand will learn from gun Hawk forwards Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead.

With its final pick in the draft, veteran Michael Osborne was welcomed back to the Club at pick 70.

Osborne was cut by the Hawks ahead of the AFL's first list lodgement, but with his impressive rehabilitation from a knee injury has earned himself a spot on the list for 2013.
