Hawthorn star Matt Suckling is a new ambassador for Cystic Fibrosis Victoria (CFV), after being impressed with the work they do to support people who have cystic fibrosis.

“The team at CFV all work together and in conjunction with the families and the CF Centres at the hospitals to improve the quality of life for people who have cystic fibrosis. I am really happy to help out where I can,” Suckling said.

Cystic Fibrosis Victoria is the peak community not-for-profit organisation working with and for people with cystic fibrosis right across the state.

Their aim is to assist everyone affected by CF to be well and live fuller lives, providing information, support and guidance to people living with CF and their families.

“CFV have been looking for a dedicated young sporting role model to become an ambassador for the organisation and we are ecstatic that someone of Matt’s calibre has answered the call,” CFV CEO Helen McNeill said.

“Keeping fit and healthy is of major importance to someone with CF as it reduces the chances of chest infections. We are thrilled to have a role model like Matt sending positive health messages to our CF community, encouraging them to stay on track with their exercise and physiotherapy goals."

Suckling welcomes Lucas and Ben - two young children with CF and their families at Waverley Park to kick off the partnership, and will be leading a team at CFV’s Great Strides awareness raising fun run/walk on October 27, at Melbourne’s famous ‘Tan Track’.
