HAWTHORN defender Ryan Schoenmakers will make his return from a knee reconstruction on Saturday, named for the Club’s VFL affiliate Box Hill.

His return will be almost a year since he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Fremantle in Round 4, 2013.

One of the Hawks’ most promising defenders, Schoenmakers has worked hard throughout his rehabilitation and put on considerable size to his 195cm frame.

Before suffering the injury, he had taken considerable strides in tackling the league’s biggest and best forwards and will be hoping to pick up where he left off in his first comeback game.

Box Hill has named an experienced side for their second match of the 2014, with Ben Stratton and Brad Sewell also named to make their return from hamstring injuries.

Both Stratton and Sewell were injured in the final practice match against Melbourne on 8 March and haven’t played for the Hawks since.

They will gain valuable match conditioning in the VFL clash against Werribee at Box Hill City Oval, with the aim of returning to the Hawthorn side as soon as possible.
