Cyril RIOLI won’t be available until closer to the second week of finals after scans revealed his hamstring has slowed in it’s recovery.

Hawthorn GM – Football Operations Chris Fagan gave an update on Cyril’s injury on Tuesday afternoon.

“We’ve been doing a surveillance scan on Cyril’s hamstring every two weeks, last week it just slowed a little bit.” Fagan told hawthornfc.com.au

Rioli suffered a hamstring injury against the Suns in Round 15.

“That scan wasn’t as positive as the previous ones.”

“He’s probably going to be closer to the second week of the finals until he’ll be available for selection again.”

In better news, Matt Suckling is likely to play this week after being subbed out of the weekend’s match with an ankle injury.

“He was a little bit sore when it first happened. He limped off.”

“Early signs he’ll be fine, he’ll need to do a test on Thursday. I’m pretty certain he’ll be available.”

Late withdrawal Matt Spangher suffered from soreness in his calf earlier in the week. His withdrawal was more precautionary than anything, to ensure it didn’t get any worse.

“He trained this morning and will be tested on Thursday.”

Finally, returning forward Jack Gunston has escaped Sunday’s match unscathed after returning earlier than first predicted.

“He pulled up really well.”
