HAWTHORN will kick off the 2014 Finals Series with a blockbuster Qualifying Final against Geelong at the MCG on Friday night.

After qualifying in second position on the AFL ladder following last night's win over Collingwood, the Hawks have been scheduled to play the third-placed Cats on Friday 5 September at 7.50pm.

The Hawks finished the home-and-away rounds with 17 wins and five losses from 23 games.

Hawthorn last met Geelong just two weeks ago, when Alastair Clarkson's team recorded an impressive 23-point win after trailing by as much as 33 points in the third quarter.

Tickets go on sale for members for Friday night's game at 9am on Monday morning (1 September) via Ticketek. General public ticket sales begin on Monday 1 September at 2pm.
