AFTER finalising its playing list for season 2015, Hawthorn can confirm the guernsey numbers to be worn by its recruits and announce upgrades for four youngsters.

Former Demon James Frawley and former GWS Giant Jonathan O’Rourke have been allocated their first Hawthorn guernsey numbers, as have draftees Daniel Howe, Teia Miles and Marc Pittonet and rookies Jared Hardisty, Jermaine Miller-Lewis and Lachlan Langford.

Five Hawks have also changed their guernsey numbers heading into season 2015, with young forward James Sicily, key position player Kaiden Brand, upgraded rookies Zac Webster and Dallas Willsmore and rookie Kurt Heatherley upgrading.

After signing with the Hawks via free agency in early October, Frawley has inherited the number 12 guernsey made famous by retired Hawk Brad Sewell.

Frawley will become the 23rd Hawk to pull on the number 12 after it was vacated by Sewell at the end of this season.

Sewell won two premierships in the number 12 guernsey – in 2008 and 2013 – and played all but 18 of his 200 career games in the number after inheriting it for the 2006 season (he debuted in number 28).

O’Rourke, who was traded to the Hawks early in the trade period for selection 19 in the draft will wear number 13 in 2015.

The young midfielder, who was originally drafted by GWS with pick two in the 2012 National Draft arrives at the Hawks as a highly talented inside and outside midfielder with good speed and skills.

He inherits the number 13 from defender Kyle Cheney who departed the Club via a trade with Adelaide at the end of this season, seeking more senior opportunities.

Young forward Sicily has inherited number 21, the same number worn by former captain Richie Vandenberg.

Sicily has upgraded from number 41 to number 21 after an impressive debut season.

Despite not making his senior debut, Sicily impressed while playing with VFL affiliate Box Bill, with his athleticism, marking and composure with ball in hand his strengths.

He was one of Box Hill’s best in the VFL Grand Final loss to Footscray, kicking two goals.

Number 21 was worn in 2014 by rookie Ben Ross after it was vacated by Shane Savage at the end of 2013.

In another number upgrade, key position player Brand has moved from number 42 into the number 30 guernsey made vacant by the departure of ruckman Luke Lowden.

Drafted in 2012 with selection 66 overall, Brand has spent two years developing in the VFL and enjoyed his best season yet in 2014.

Playing predominantly as a defender despite spending some time forward in 2013 and throughout his junior years.

International rookie Kurt Heatherley has also upgraded his guernsey number, moving from 46, which he wore for his debut season in 2014 to 34.

Number 34 was worn in 2014 by delisted defender Jordan Kelly, who held the number for three years – 2012-2014 – but never made his AFL debut.

Upgraded from the rookie list to the primary list at the end of this season, Webster and Willsmore have also upgraded their guernsey numbers.

A small forward who loves to pressure his opposition, Webster moves from number 45 to number 36 following the departure of rookie Derick Wanganeen, while Willsmore moves from 43 to 38.

38 was previously won by Mitch Hallahan who was traded to Gold Coast Suns for more senior opportunities.

Daniel Howe, who was drafted by the Hawks with its first pick in this year’s National Draft has been allocated number 41 following Sicily's number upgrade.

Teia Miles, who was taken with pick 49 has been handed number 42 and Marc Pittonet (pick 50) number 43.

Rookie Jared Hardisty has been given number 44, a number made famous by much-loved Hawk John ‘the Rat’ Platten.

Fellow rookie Jermaine Miller-Lewis has been allocated number 45 while Lachlan Langford, the son of Club great Chris and the brother of premiership player Will, will begin his Hawthorn career in number 46.
