Day six of Hawthorn's pre-season training camp produced the hottest day so far, with the sun beaming down on the players who were outside and ready to train at 7.30am as the temperature hit 29 degrees.

The session began lightly at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex with the boys completing some warm ups drills by running up and down the ground and basic skills work before getting into the nitty gritty of the session - full ground ball movement drills under pressure.

Of course, once the skills portion of training was over the session wasn't yet done with more running sessions ready to again test the players both mentally and physically. Placed in different groups dthe group were required to run around the oval as hard as they could in sets that could last anywhere between 10 and 45 seconds.

As Head Fitness Coach Andrew Russell blew the whistle to begin each set, the groups began to separate with Billy Hartung, Isaac Smith and Bradley Hill unsurprisingly ending up right at the front in their groups.

Once that part of the running was finished there was one more obstacle to overcome - pair running, which means one player runs as hard as he can and his partner chases him.

While it sounds like not the most difficult task, the boys were fatiguing under the hot sun and having already done a power of work up to that point and had to use up every last bit of strength they could muster as everyone shouted encouragement to one another.

Hear Isaac Smith speak about the day's training.

That was the last of the outside training for the day, with the players finally breaking for lunch before getting stuck into more work in the afternoon.

Their legs may have been tired but their last duty was to head to the Maroochydore Goodlife gym and do some light leg weights and recover for more training on Thursday and Friday to end the camp.
