Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Hawks each week exclusive to hawthornfc.com.au.

Last week

Not only was it a great win for the Hawks at their home-away-from-home in Launceston, the Fantasy scores flowed for the boys in the brown and gold.

Luke Hodge’s 44 disposals and two goals saw him rack up a career high 159 Fantasy points; the second highest for round two. The most popular captain choice in the competition, Jordan Lewis, got very busy in the last quarter adding 50 points to finish on 152… or 304 for those with the ‘C’ on him.

Defenders Grant Birchall (106) and Matt Suckling (100) enjoyed the open space at Aurora Stadium, linking up to record their best scores for this season.

The Hawks totalled the most points across all 18 clubs over the weekend, combining for 1969; more than a lot of Fantasy coaches scored.

Top five scorers v Western Bulldogs

  1. 159 - Luke Hodge (DEF/MID, $597,000)
  2. 152 - Jordan Lewis (MID, $680,000)
  3. 140 - Jarryd Roughead (FWD, $508,000)
  4. 120 - Sam Mitchell (MID, $520,000)
  5. 118 - Isaac Smith (MID, $512,000)

On the radar

Hawks fans were pumped to see Brendan Whitecross back after rupturing his ACL in the 2013 Preliminary Final. His 41 points saw him drop $5K however his breakeven remains low at 48. At $253,000, Whitecross could be defensive option for your Fantasy team due to his upside – he averaged 87.6 points back in 2012.

Due to starting in the green vest, Jed Anderson’s price remained relatively stable this week. He increased $2K. If we can be confident Jed can get a full game in the next week or two, he is a great midfield buy at $205,000.

What's coming up

It’s the 2014 Preliminary Final re-match on Saturday night. The in-form skipper is hopefully in for a big match again after scoring 134 in September last year.

Sam Mitchell has posted some good numbers so far this year and he will be looking to hit triple figures like he did last time they met the Power. Jarryd Roughead booted six goals in the prelim.
