Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Hawks each week exclusive to hawthornfc.com.au.

Last week

A fast start from the Power was too much for the Hawks, falling eight points short in the Preliminary Final replay. 10 goals in the second half helped Hawthorn boost their Fantasy scores, finishing with 1621 to Port Adelaide’s 1450.

Continuing his hot form, Isaac Smith (MID, $538,000) bumped his price up $26K off the back of his 29 disposals, eight marks, eight tackles and 151 points. Smith was the top scoring Fantasy player across all 18 clubs in round four.

Now the most expensive player in the competition, Jordan Lewis (MID, $694,000) is one of two players to score 100+ in all four games. The midfielder finished with 36 disposals.

Top 5 scorers v Port Adelaide

  1. 151 – Isaac Smith (MID, $538,000)
  2. 130 – Jordan Lewis (MID, $694,000)
  3. 122 – Taylor Duryea (MID, $400,000)
  4. 117 – Josh Gibson (DEF, $477,000)
  5. 84 – Brendon Whitecross (DEF, $267,000)

On the radar

I’m looking at bringing Brendon Whitecross (DEF, $267,000) into my backline this week. He was impressive in his second game back, collecting 19 disposals, eight marks and three tackles. Whitecross’ 84 points added $14K to his price and with a breakeven of 23, he will be making some decent cash for his owners.

If you have a few more dollars to spend down back, Josh Gibson (DEF, $477,000) is a good option. Scores of 110, 74 and 117 ranks him as the third highest averaging defender in the competition. I would be cautious as both Lake and Frawley aren’t playing and he may have to play more of a defensive role while they are out.

Team mate Taylor Duryea (DEF, $400,000) has scored back-to-back tons and his averaging 87.5 points over the first four rounds. The premiership player has a breakeven of 22 and could be a unique mid-priced option to add to your backline.

What's coming up

Round four’s game against North Melbourne is a Match Day game where you have the chance to win $10,000. Match Day is the quickest and easiest Fantasy game to play. All you need to do is pick a team of seven players from the Hawks and the Roos. Pick your team at http://fantasy.afl.com.au or via the free mobile app.

Last time they met, Jack Gunston (FWD, $459,000) booted six goals to be the best for the Hawks with 119. Luke Hodge (DEF/MID, $603,000) racked up 28 disposals for 104 in the round 16 clash last year.
