Isaac Smith has been voted as the Hawks’ best by the respective coaches, in Saturday night’s eight-point loss to Port Adelaide.

Kicking two goals and amassing 29 disposals, 10 of which were contested possessions, Smith was a key driver in the Hawks fight back from a 58-point deficit in the second term to almost steal the game in the last.

Taylor Duryea and Josh Gibson were also recognised for their performances with one vote apiece.

Duryea had a team-high 14 marks to go with a crucial bouncing goal from the boundary, which brought the Hawks within seven points late in the final term.

Gathering 29 disposals at 89.7% efficiency, Josh Gibson was as critical as ever in defence as the Hawks limited Port Adelaide to only three second-half goals.

Power key forward Jay Schulz took top honours after a five-goal haul with eight votes from Alastair Clarkson and Ken Hinkley. While Peter Badcoe VC Medallist, Travis Boak, was right behind with seven.

Chad Wingard (five) and Alipate Carlile (three) completed the coaches’ votes.
