Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Hawks each week exclusive to hawthornfc.com.au.

Last Week

Jordan Lewis was the big new story out of the game for Fantasy coaches as the most popular captain option was a late withdrawal with a bruised shoulder. Lewis has been sensational this season with an average of 131.7. Hopefully he is good to go this weekend.

Midfielder Liam Shiels (154) had a massive last quarter to finish with 26 disposals and 14 tackles in the wet, windy and cold conditions in Launceston.

The captain and general Luke Hodge (131) was at his best with 30 disposals and eight tackles. Bradley Hill (120) finished with 33 touches.

Josh Gibson (107) took 10 marks in the backline to go with his 29 disposals while Matt Suckling (97) was a late inclusion spending some time forward racking up 28 possessions.

Top 5 Scorers v Gold Coast

  • 154 – Liam Shiels (MID, $505,000)
  • 131 – Luke Hodge (DEF/MID, $605,000)
  • 120 – Bradley Hill (MID, $403,000)
  • 118 – Taylor Duryea (DEF, $450,000)
  • 116 – Isaac Smith (MID, $611,000)

On the radar

In his first game, Daniel Howe (51) had fresh legs when he came on in the last quarter after shedding the green vest. In 22% game time, Howe had eight kicks, three handballs and five marks and added $5K to his price tag. Named as a defender, Howe could be an option to bring in if he can cement a place in the side over the next few weeks and doesn’t don the substitute vest.

What's Coming Up

On Sunday the Hawks head to Etihad Stadium to take on the Saints.

Last time they met, Luke Bruest kicked four goals in his 29 disposals and 129 Fantasy points. Shaun Burgoyne (122) and Jordan Lewis (122) found plenty of the ball in the 145 point win.

If you have some Hawks in your Fantasy team, then making one a captain could be a good call against the Saints after 12 players scored over 100 points last time for a team total of 1980 – more than what some Fantasy teams are scoring overall.
