HAWTHORN has made three changes to face Collingwood at the MCG on Friday night.

Matt Spangher has been named to play his first AFL game this season, while Cyril Rioli and Ryan Schoenmakers will also return to the Hawks side.

Key position players Spangher and Schoenmakers come in for James Frawley (shoulder) and Jarryd Roughead (illness).

Rioli replaces Billy Hartung, who has been omitted.

GM – Football Operations Chris Fagan said the inclusions give the Hawks flexibility at both ends of the ground.

“Ryan Schoenmakers and Matt Spangher are direct replacements for James Frawley and Jarryd Roughead,” he said.

“Both of those guys can play key position back or forward.

“Obviously Cyril Rioli is straight back in now that he’s available, after attending a funeral in Darwin last week.

“Billy Hartung is unlucky to go out of the side – he has been in solid form."

Spangher has played three consecutive games at VFL level, proving he has overcome the injuries that hampered him early in the season.

This will be his first AFL match since the Hawks’ 2014 grand final victory.

The Hawks and Magpies both have eight wins for the season, and the winner will move a game clear inside the top four by the end of Round 14.
