HAWTHORN’S James Frawley is expected to come under scrutiny from the AFL Match Review Panel for his high hit on teammate Bradley Hill in Saturday’s match against the Lions.

Frawley caught Hill high in the second term with an open palm to the face and poke in the eye.

It was a classic case of celebration gone wrong, after the 26-year-old kicked his first goal for Hawthorn, and his 19th career goal.

However, it is highly likely the MRP will grade the incident as careless conduct.

The MRP could take into consideration the fact Frawley has spent the majority of his 152 AFL matches in defence, and was unfamiliar with proper goal celebration technique.

Frawley admitted post-game he “didn’t really know what to do” after kicking his first goal for the Hawks, before making no mistake with his second and third goal celebrations.

But contact to the head is frowned upon and the repercussions are serious.

The key factor to potential trouble for Frawley could be how the MRP grades the impact – low, medium, high or severe.

Hill was momentarily hindered, before going on to finish the match with 30 disposals.

The dashing winger was among the Hawks’ best players in the 72-point win, which Frawley will hope is enough evidence to ensure he plays against Carlton this week.

If it helps, Chip apologised to Hilly after the game too - but we're not convinced that will be enough.
