HAWTHORN midfielder Jonathan Simpkin took home Box Hill Hawks’ club champion award, the Col Austen Trophy, on Friday night.

Simpkin won the award from Box Hill Hawks’ skipper David Mirra, who finished as runner up, and fellow Hawthorn-listed player Kurt Heatherley, who finished third.

The 27-year-old onballer enjoyed an outstanding season at VFL level.

He played 20 of a possible 21 matches for the Hawks in 2015, averaging 27.5 disposals per match.

On six occasions Simpkin tallied 30 or more disposals, including a season-high 38 in the Hawks’ qualifying final win against Footscray.

He was named among the Hawks’ best players on 13 occasions during the season.

Simpkin also won the Presidents Trophy, which was awarded to the highest-polling Box Hill player at the JJ Liston Trophy, and the Best Finals Player award.

He averaged almost 34 disposals per match in the Hawks’ finals campaign.

Among the other awards, first-year Hawthorn player Daniel Howe won Box Hill’s Best First Year Player award, adding to the same award that he won at the club’s Peter Crimmins Medal on Saturday night.
