1. Puopolo’s best game?

It’s been widely reported that Paul Puopolo didn’t have a Brownlow vote before Friday night – but that should change when this year’s votes are read at the end of the season.

Puopolo was brilliant against the Crows, kicking five goals from 23 disposals, to go with five clearances and six tackles. Not to mention his mark of the year contender.

2. Three in three

Good things come in threes, right?

So three consecutive three-point wins is definitely a good thing – even if it is a bit emotionally draining!

Last year the Hawks had a 4-4 start after losing a couple of close ones, but in 2016 the tables have turned.

3. Burgoyne all class

For a man who has delivered in clutch situations time and time again, it was only fitting that the Hawks pulled off a miraculous win in the dying moments to honour Shaun Burgoyne’s 300th AFL match.

The silky veteran was again a consistent contributor, collecting 17 disposals, six clearances, 11 tackles and five inside-50s to have a real impact on the contest.

4. Tackle pressure rises

Stats aren’t everything – but while the Hawks lost the disposal count (353-405), they definitively won the tackle count (97-77).

The Hawks pressure around the ball – particularly after quarter time – was ferocious, with 11 players laying four or more tackles for the match.

Liam Shiels (12), Shaun Burgoyne (11) and Cyril Rioli (10) all hit double figures.

5. Hawks crack the century

For the first time this season, the Hawks reached the magical 100-point mark - a feat the team achieved 14 times in last year’s home and away season.

Most importantly, the Hawks had a spread of contributors. Paul Puopolo (five) and Cyril Rioli (four) combined for nine majors, but James Sicily (two) was the only other multiple goal-kicker, as six other Hawks split the big sticks.
