HAWTHORN forward Jack Gunston said it was pleasing to be able to extend the Hawks’ winning run at Aurora Stadium to 17 matches.

The Hawks were challenged by an undermaned Fremantle Dockers outfit on Saturday, but produced a big third quarter to help secure a 41-point win.

“We know the oval, we know the conditions, we’ve played in them many times,” Gunston said.

“It’s good that we can keep the streak going.”

Gunston was one of 11 goalkickers for the Hawks, finishing with three majors from 17 disposals.

He said the Hawks got a wake-up call from the Dockers in the second term – with the visitors taking the lead at the major break.

The Hawks responded with an eight-goal-to-nil third term to open up a 51-point advantage.

“The conditions probably evened up the game a little bit, credit to Fremantle, that second quarter they really put it to us and they were in front at half time,” Gunston said.

“We had to come out (firing) – the boys played great footy (after half time).

“We attacked the top of the square and we took a few marks but were able to crumb the goals as well. We made the most of our opportunities down there in that third quarter.”
