HAWTHORN’S Sam Mitchell earned best on ground honours in Sunday’s win against Gold Coast Suns at Aurora Stadium.

In the coaches’ votes, the star midfielder received a perfect haul of 10 – five each from Hawks’ coach Alastair Clarkson and Suns’ coach Rodney Eade.

He collected 35 disposals and won eight clearances to guide the Hawks to their fifth consecutive win – and top spot on the AFL ladder.

Mitchell was one of seven players – five Hawks and two Suns – to poll votes from the coaches.

Two Suns – Gary Ablett and Tom Lynch – each polled six votes.

Ablett enjoyed 40 disposals and 15 clearances, while Lynch kicked three goals in a 17-disposal, 10-mark game.

Grant Birchall (28 disposals) and Jordan Lewis (27 disposals) each polled three votes, while Isaac Smith and skipper Luke Hodge rounded out the voting with one apiece.
