HAWTHORN star Sam Mitchell earned the nod from the coaches as best on ground in his milestone match.

Mitchell collected 38 disposals in a best on ground performance against Richmond at the MCG on Sunday, helping lead Hawthorn to a 70-point win – it’s eighth in succession.

The 33-year-old midfielder polled nine votes from the coaches for his performance.

Four other Hawks were also among the votes – plus one Tiger.

Wingman Bradley Hill received six votes for his 31-disposal game, while Richmond star Dustin Martin picked up five as his side’s best performer.

Defenders Josh Gibson (five votes) and Ben Stratton (four votes) were rewarded after the Hawks held the Tigers to less than 50 points for the match, while Jack Gunston picked up a solitary vote for his three-goal performance.

Mitchell’s nine-vote game sees his jump back into the AFLCA leaderboard.

He has polled 33 of a possible 40 votes in the Hawks’ past four matches, taking his season tally to 59 votes, 26 behind Geelong's Patrick Dangerfield, who leads the count with 85 votes.
