"It was a disappointing night."

After falling to the Suns by a record 86 points, Jack Gunston was not sugar-coating the Hawks' loss.

Going into the game with an 100 per cent winning record against Gold Coast, the Hawks found themselves chasing from the get-go, with the Suns kicking the first three goals of the match, before piling on a further 18 to finish with their greatest ever winning margin.

"We got smashed in the stoppages, contested ball, uncontested possessions, and disposals in the game, and when you lose all those key indicators, you're going to be in for a tough night," says Gunston.

Despite the disappointing start to the season, the forward is confident the team can turn it's 0-3 start around.

"We just need to go through the week, review, gel together as a group, and try and get out of this mini hole that we're in.

"If we play at our best, we can match it with anyone."
