Box Hill Senior Coach Chris Newman reviews every Hawthorn-listed player’s performance for Box Hill in its final VFL practice match for 2017.

Scores were level when the final siren sounded in the match against Coburg, which according to Newman is "the last thing you want in a practise game".

Jack Fitzpatrick

“Fitzy started in the ruck and competed really well. He ended up with 24 hit outs and had eight marks for us. He covered the ground really well and kicked a goal, so this was a reasonable output for him.” CN

Harry Morrison

"Harry had 20 touches while playing off half back. He was really good in the air, taking a couple of contested marks. He used the ball well and continues to develop with each game." CN

Blake Hardwick

“Hardwick played off half back as well and finished with 21 touches, 18 kicks. He is trying to use his leg a bit more as it is one of his strengths. He ended up with six inside 50s and four rebounds, so he’s getting up the ground and providing a fair bit of run for us." CN

Luke Surman

“Surmo started forward, played a bit in the ruck and then finished playing back. He finished really well in the back line taking a few marks off the opposition’s boot, so that might be a different position that we can explore." CN

Kade Stewart

"Stewart competed really well for us both on the ball and up forward. He finished with 19 touches, had four scoring shots, seven inside 50s and laid seven tackles, so that was a fairly solid game from Kade." CN

Ryan Schoenmakers

"Schoenmakers competed really well finishing with 17 touches and a goal. He took three marks, but would have halved a dozen contests, so he’s really competing hard." CN

Dan Howe

"Howe finished with 30 disposals so he’s been pretty consistent for us. He also had seven tackles, five clearances and seven marks, so he’s working really hard. He’s a player that gets in and under but can also provide a lot of spread for us, so it was another solid game for him." CN

Dallas Willsmore

"Willsmore had 26 disposals and three shots at goal which is exactly what we want from Dal. He uses the ball really well and had a few clearances as well which was pleasing to see." CN

James Sicily

"Sicily had 28 disposals predominately playing back. He took 11 marks and then went forward in the last quarter and kicked three goals for us so it’s great to see that he can play multiple positions." CN

Marc Pittonet

"It was Pittonet’s first game back from injury. He had a better second half than first, but he competed really well in the ruck and provided a bit of spread. He finished with 10 touches which isn’t a huge output, but he was providing an option around the ground." CN

Tim O'Brien

"Tim O’Brien took quite a few contested marks, so he’s competing really well and providing a great focal point for us going forward. He finished with 15 disposals, seven marks and kicked 1.2." CN
