GEELONG kept its unbeaten start to the season alive with an 86-point win over Hawthorn at the MCG on Easter Monday.

The Cats dominated the first quarter but couldn't capitalise up forward kicking 2.7, but eventually their class came to the fore in the final quarter as they kicked 11 goals to two to win 20.14 (134) to 6.12 (48).

Geelong may have eventually got the result it wanted, but they did have two players placed on report. Sam Menegola was reported for a sling tackle on Luke Hodge and James Parsons also went into the umpire's book for a high shot on Hodge.

Steven Motlop had an enormous impact on the result for the Cats, gathering 32 disposals and kicking three goals.

Despite being the constant target of Geelong's physicality, Hodge was easily the Hawk's best finishing with 33 possessions and five tackles.
