Hawks fans will be hopeful Jaeger O’Meara is fit for selection as the Hawks set themselves to take on St Kilda on Saturday.

Hawthorn Elite Performance Manager Andrew Russell said that the 23-year old will benefit from another strong week on the training track.

“Jaeger trained last Thursday and trained pretty well, but he wasn’t quite right,” Russell said.

“So we’re going to have another crack this week with him at training and we’ll make an assessment at the end of the week about how good his function is”.

With Isaac Smith having recovered from a leg injury sustained against the Eagles on Sunday, the successful Hawk 22 look set to be available to take on the Saints.

Although strong performances at VFL level will ensure competition for spots remains high.

Rookie Jack Fitzpatrick put in a best-on-ground performance, as Box Hill progressed to a 2-0 start to the year.

Fitzpatrick gathered 16 disposals, 17 hit-outs, five marks and kicked five goals in an impressive display.

Among other notable efforts, Brendan Whitecross picked up 28 disposals while Ty Vickery kicked three goals in his first game for Box Hill.

First-year pair Harry Morrison (28 disposals) and James Cousins (24 disposals, one goal) also continued their promising starts to their brown and gold career.
