Harry Morrison (28 disposals, 11 handball receives, 8 marks)

“Harry has been playing off half-back and he had 28 touches on the weekend. His skill and decision-making is really good so he’s becoming a good, attacking starter of our play”. MB

Brendan Whitecross (28 disposals, 12 handball receives, 4 marks, 2 tackles)

“Whitey had our second most contested possessions on the weekend, spending time in both the midfield and up forward. He won a lot of critical contests, which got the game into our favour so we were really happy with his game”. MB

Taylor Duryea (24 disposals, 7 handball receives, 9 marks, 3 tackles)

”Duryea spent all of his time in the backline. He’s a pretty senior figure now, so it’s good, in a selfish sense, to have him at Box Hill for these younger guys to learn off him. His attack on the ball is really strong and his positioning has been really good so he certainly helped out on the weekend”. MB

James Cousins (24 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 1.1 goal)

“Cousins was our leading contested possession getter on the weekend, with 13 of his 24 touches being contested. That’s going to be his style, he’s very strong over the footy for an 18-year old. He’s working on spending a bit of time on the wing too, but most of his time will be on the inside”. MB

Marc Pittonet (20 disposals, 3 marks, 26 hit-outs, 6 tackles)

“Pittonet probably had his best game that I’ve seen him play so far. Really aggressive in the ruck, he dominated the hit-outs for a second week in a row. He was probably the main instigator of our game that really got us going in the first quarter”. MB

Teia Miles (19 disposals, 11 handball receives, 7 marks, 1.2 goal)

“His strength is his link-up play, getting the ball and being really creative with it. We’re still working at him being consistent with that but we love getting the ball in his hands”. MB

Dallas Willsmore (19 disposals, 7 handball receives, 8 marks, 1 goal)

“Dallas probably found it a bit tough on the weekend with the tough conditions, being on the wing. But, like Miles, we like the ball being in his hands, and we’re a better team when that’s the case. We still have to find ways for him to get into the game though”. MB

Jack Fitzpatrick (16 disposals, 5 marks, 17 hit-outs, 5 goals)

“Fitzy probably had his best game that I have seen from him also. Playing up forward, he kicked five goals and he was taking some really strong, contested marks. But also in the ruck, he was able to give Pittonet a good rest, so we were really rapt with his game”. MB

Ryan Schoenmakers (16 disposals, 5 marks, 1 behind)

“Schoenmakers spent time forward and back and, while he might not get the stats for it, he was really strong in his contest work. Much like Duryea, we are rapt to have him in the team, obviously he’d like to be playing AFL no doubt, but he really straightens us up and he’s been a really important player for us”. MB

Jono O’Rourke (14 disposals, 6 handball receives, 9 tackles)

“Jono’s second game back after a hamstring, and he probably wasn’t as prolific as his first game. He was dealing with a bit of soreness though so we’re just pleased he got another game under his belt, and he will be better for it. He gives us a different element in our midfield”. MB

Mitchell Lewis (13 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles, 2 goals)

“Mitch kicked two goals on the weekend and he’s proving to be a bit of a surprise packet. Being a late draft pick, we weren’t quite sure what we’d get from him. But his attack on the footy has really been standing out, so that’s been a pleasant surprise”. MB

Kade Stewart (12 disposals, 7 tackles, 4 handball receives)

“Kade had another strong game inside so his contested game was great. He led our team in tackles and one-percenters. He didn’t have as much of the ball as the week before but he’s pretty important in getting us going inside, because VFL is such a contested style of game”. MB

Ty Vickery (12 disposals, 6 marks, 3 goals)

“We were really rapt with Ty’s attitude coming back, he started off really well with his three goals and some contested marks. We probably didn’t make the most of it as a side, we probably didn’t kick it to him enough in the second half but he was still really pleasing”. MB

Conor Glass (11 disposals, 4 marks, 2 tackles)

“He’s played most of his footy to date as a defender but now we’re putting him through the wing, so we’re trying to see how he goes there. He was probably another one who saw less of it because the game was such an inside game on the weekend but his defensive side of his game, which is where you like to see young guys build their game on, is really strong so we just need to get the ball in his hands a bit more”. MB

Luke Surman (11 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles)

“Surman is now playing down back after starting his career up forward. He’s taking some really strong, contested marks. The one thing he is working on is his consistency within games, and he’s getting better and better with that so he’s another guy who is developing well”. MB

Conor Nash (10 disposals, 5 handball receives, 2 marks)

“Nash had a really strong game in defence. His third proper game of football in his life, so he’s developing amazingly well for a guy who didn’t grow up with the game and he looks pretty natural. He’s also a bit different to the other Irish guys in that he is tall and strong, so we’re hoping he keeps going along nicely as he is”. MB
