Despite a number of injuries to Hawthorn's senior players this week, Alastair Clarkson believes the side is still well-placed thanks to the quality coming through the VFL ranks.

"We're pretty fortunate that Box Hill have been playing some good footy," Clarkson said while addressing the media on Friday morning.

"In his first year as coach, [Chris Newman] has got the Box Hill boys playing really well, which is timely for us with some injuries coming out of last week's game."
