Is this just fantasy?

R8: Ricky gets his first as a Hawk Ricky Henderson booted three goals in the win over the Lions, but it was this that marked his first as a Hawk.

Backs

Top Hawk: Luke Hodge

With the eighth highest average for a defender, Luke Hodge remains one of the most valuable Fantasy commodities in the game. Averaging 96.9 this season, Hodge’s ability to fill up the stat sheet has meant he has been a perennial must-have over the entirety of his career.

One to watch: Ricky Henderson

Despite only playing his fifth game of the season against the Lions on the weekend, Henderson’s 117 points reminded Fantasy coaches of his value if he can remain in the Hawks’ senior side. Henderson has the 12th highest ranking amongst defenders, averaging 91.4.

Midfielders

Top Hawk: Tom Mitchell

No surprises here as the Hawk ball magnet’s 126 average ranks him the third best Fantasy player in the competition. Mitchell’s season so far has been the picture of consistency with 115 being his lowest score throughout the opening eight weeks.

One to watch: Billy Hartung

Despite a lacklustre first two games that saw scores of 70 and 74, Hartung has returned from a bout in the VFL to record a 90.7 average over the last three weeks. If Hartung can keep this form up, expect him to be a popular recruit in the coming weeks.

Rucks

Top Hawk: Ben McEvoy

After a 2016 campaign in which he averaged an underwhelming 65.3, Ben McEvoy has exploded this year to become one of the favoured choices in the ruck position. With the fourth best average of all ruckman at 97.8, the 200cm Hawk has enjoyed a career-best Fantasy year.

One to watch: Jack Fitzpatrick

Jack Fitzpatrick is the only other Hawk with ruck status who has played a game this year. The 25-year old played his first game of the season in Round 8 against Brisbane, scoring 48. Having been ruled out of Round 9 with concussion, it may be worth sitting this week out before selecting the versatile ruckman.

Forwards

Top Hawk: Isaac Smith

Hawthorn vice-captain Isaac Smith has emerged as hot Fantasy property this season, after he was given Forward status over the summer. Smith is averaging 88.9 this year, an average that ranks him inside the top 20 best forward options in the competition.

One to watch: Ryan Burton

Not far behind Smith, Ryan Burton has boosted his 54.3 2016 average to 87.3 in 2017. Burton is a valuable addition to Fantasy line-ups this year given his dual position status as both a forward and defender. Burton figures to be a popular Fantasy recruit for years to come.
