Hawthorn goal kicker Luke Breust is set to play his 150th AFL game when the Hawks take on Sydney on Friday night.

Breust has enjoyed a remarkable career to date, made all the more impressive given the fact that the New South Welshman was taken with pick 47 in the 2009 Rookie Draft.

Since then, the 26-year old has forged a reputation as one of the game’s leading small forwards with his ability to consistently hit the scoreboard as well as providing intense forward pressure for the Hawks.

Breust’s career highlights include his three premiership medals from 2013, 2014 and 2015 and an All Australian honour in 2014, when he was named on the half-forward flank.

He boasts one of the league’s most consistent goal kicking rates, being one of only four players in the competition to have kicked 40 or more goals in each of the past five seasons (Jack Riewoldt, Tom Hawkins and Lance Franklin being the other three).

Breust is also among the game’s most successful players, boasting a winning rate of 75.84 percent of his 149 games, the third best record of any current player (behind only Bradley Hill at 76.92 and Joel Selwood at 76.58).

The small forward will be looking to boost this percentage when the Hawks face Sydney on Friday night.

Joining Breust in milestone match celebrations, Hawks journeyman Brendan Whitecross will be running out for his 100th match against the Swans.

It is an outstanding achievement for the Queensland native, who has endured two knee reconstructions since he was taken by the Hawks with pick 29 in the 2007 Draft.

Cruelly, Whitecross suffered these injuries in the 2012 and 2013 finals series, ruining his chances of playing in a Grand Final.

Nevertheless, Whitecross has become one of the most popular players amongst Hawthorn fans for his resilience and reliability.
