R8: Ricky gets his first as a Hawk Ricky Henderson booted three goals in the win over the Lions, but it was this that marked his first as a Hawk.

Hawthorn utility Ricky Henderson is set to play his 100th game this Thursday night.

Henderson will reach the milestone as he takes on his former side, the Adelaide Crows, who he played 90 games for between 2010 and 2016.

The Crows took Henderson with pick 10 in the 2008 rookie draft. Having played only three games of football in the four years before being drafted, Henderson was a mature-age recruit who caught the Crows’ eye due to the athleticism he displayed in his previously favoured sport- basketball.

493 days after being a “speculative” rookie selection, Henderson was awarded with his AFL debut in Round 5 2010 against the Western Bulldogs.

Henderson quickly showed he felt right at home in the AFL competition, receiving his first Brownlow vote in just his fifth career game.

Henderson finished his time in Adelaide at the end of season 2016, having played four finals in a Crows jumper.

In his first year at the Hawks, Henderson is averaging a career-high 22.7 disposals per game, cementing a spot for himself on Hawthorn’s wing.

The 28-year old has been one of the Hawks’ most consistent performers this season, not falling below 21 disposals in any of his nine games at his new club.
