Dallas Willsmore

36 disposals, 16 marks, 4 tackles, 2 goals

“He played more as a forward than a mid. We wanted to try to get maximum benefit out of his leg and his ball-use. Looking at his stats, this obviously had a pretty good outcome. I think that is something that we will now stick with going forward. He spent a bit of time in the mids, but predominantly forward, after playing wing throughout the majority of the year. But we want him to try and accumulate possessions and get him higher up the ground. He was able to compete in the air up forward as well, which was good.” CN

Brendan Whitecross

33 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles

“Whitey played on ball for the bulk of the game. He is just a bigger bodied midfielder that has time and space when he gets the ball. He uses his strength in and around the contest. He had four inside 50s and he was one of our leading players in terms of our pressure KPIs, he actually that lead that for the day. He does it in all sections of the ground, so it was another outstanding game from Whitey.” CN

Harry Morrison

24 disposals, 10 marks, 6 tackles

“He played mid after playing back for the majority of the year. We thought we would give him a go on-ball. He started the game in outstanding fashion, he had nine possessions at quarter time and had a fair influence on the game. He drifted at stages throughout the game but that’s going to happen in a relatively new position. But he had ten marks, so he works really hard around the ground, six tackles as well, so again one of our better pressure players on the day. We will probably look to give him some exposure in there. We know he can play back, but we also like what he can bring on-ball.” CN

Teia Miles

21 disposals, 8 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal, 6 score assists

“Miles played forward, another different role for him. He has played forward across his career but we thought we’d just keep him there. Again, we just want to get maximum benefit from his ball-use. He has been able to set us up in the past from the backline but we feel like he’s a hard match-up as a forward because he has a high work-rate. I saw him on numerous occasions, he was really hard to stop running towards goal. He kicked a goal but the most impressive thing was his six score assists. I loved his energy and he had a really good, team game.” CN

Ty Vickery

20 disposals, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 50 hit-outs, 2 goals

“Ty was our first ruck, with Marc Pittonet out. He had to shoulder a lot of the responsibility throughout the day. He had 20 disposals, which was great. He went forward at times but played predominantly on-ball. He provided us with something around the ground, taking a couple of contested marks. He had 50 hit-outs. He was playing on an inexperienced North Ballarat ruckman, but he did what he had to in getting absolute dominance in that area. He had seven clearances himself and kicked two goals so a great return from Ty and he will take great confidence from that.” CN

Conor Glass

19 disposals, 8 marks, 2 tackles

“He played off half-back and is really starting to take the game on. His run and carry and ability to draw an opposition player to release someone else is elite. He took four marks from the opposition’s boot, which means he’s getting in good areas behind the ball. He continues to improve.” CN

Mitchell Lewis

19 disposals, 11 marks, 1 tackle

“Another player that played a different position, playing back. He was really involved in the game, with 17 disposals and a couple of marks from opposition boot so, again, he got into some really good positions behind the ball. He will continue to learn from that part of the ground. He competed really well, with a couple of strong spoils. He is obviously a taller type player, but he can move and cover the ground so it will be interesting to see how he progresses in that part of the ground and we will see if we can keep him there and if he can pick up a new craft down back. It wouldn’t surprise me if he went and assumed his position down forward and in the ruck, but we will settle him back, I think, at this stage.” CN

Ollie Hanrahan

18 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal

“He played predominantly on-ball and forward for the first three quarters and then more forward in the last quarter. He is still coming back from his injury, so he is taking a little bit of time to get absolutely cherry-ripe in terms of his match fitness. So, we’re trying to look after him a little bit. But he is very lively and he kicked 1.2, so three shots on goal, with 18 disposals and four inside 50s. He will continue to improve. He loves taking the game on and tucking the ball under his arm so he is a pretty exciting sort of player.” CN
