Tom Mitchell’s season has almost reached a point where he is breaking a new record every week.

The Hawks ball magnet has achieved some incredible feats this year including picking up 50 disposals in Round 9 against Collingwood, recording 14 consecutive 30-possession games and averaging a ridiculous 35.6 possessions per game for the year.

On Sunday against North Melbourne, the 24-year old continued his stellar season, overtaking St Kilda champion Robert Harvey for the most games with at least 30 possessions in a single home and away season.

It was a record that Harvey had held for almost 20 years, after he collected 30-plus touches in 17 matches over the course of the 1998 season.

But yesterday Mitchell surpassed Harvey’s record, picking up his 18th 30+ possession haul for 2017.

The former Swan has only fallen short of the 30-disposal mark on two occasions throughout his 20 games this year.

Former Hawk Sam Mitchell recently passed another of Harvey’s mantles when he registered his 119th career 30-possession game in Round 10.

With a current tally of 37, Tom Mitchell has a long way to go before he starts to threaten that record, but he is certainly going the right way about tracking it down.
