If Tom Mitchell is named in the 2017 All Australian team on Wednesday evening, he will become the 37^th Hawthorn player to receive the honour. 

Six other men on Hawthorn’s current list have achieved the feat: Luke Hodge (2005, 2008, 2010), Jarryd Roughead (2013, 2014), Cyril Rioli (2012, 2015, 2016), Josh Gibson (2015), Luke Breust (2014) and Grant Birchall (2012). 

Three other current players have also received All Australian honours while wearing the brown and gold, before shifting clubs: Lance Franklin (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012), Sam Mitchell (2011, 2013, 2015) and Jordan Lewis (2014). 

John Platten is the most capped Hawk with five All Australian selections (1986-1989, 1992), followed by Chris Langford (4), Jason Dunstall (4), Shane Crawford (4) and Franklin (4 as a Hawk, before adding another in 2014 as a Swan). 

Mitchell has built a strong case for selection in 2017, after a season that saw records tumble nearly every week. He currently holds the record for the most disposals in a home and away season (787), the most games in a season with 30+ touches (20), the most touches in a single game in Hawthorn history (50, Round 9), and the highest career average for disposals per match (27.83).

A pretty impressive CV, in anyone’s books.
