Coming across from Richmond at the end of 2016 season, Ty Vickery played six games for Hawthorn in 2017.

His six appearances came in two three-week blocks, playing in the opening three games of the year and then earning a recall between Rounds 9 to 11.

When playing at senior level, Vickery mixed his time between the forward line and ruck, averaging 9.7 hit-outs per game.

The 27-year old showed some strong VFL form for Box Hill throughout the year, kicking 27 goals from his 15 games.

A word from: Adem Yze

“It was a bit tough for him at the start of the year. Our form wasn’t that good and that probably flowed into his form as an individual.

“He was just finding his way and working out how the forward line was working together and the balance of height in our forward line was a bit out of whack in the first part of the year. In the end, he copped the brunt of us wanting to play a bit smaller in the front end.

“But, being out of the team, his attitude at Box Hill has been terrific and that’s all we can ask of him. So, it was probably a learning year for him but, as a positive, his attitude and effort at Box Hill was second to none. So, hopefully he can deliver a massive finals series with Box Hill.”
