Wright: Trade period not done yet

Wright explains the Impey deal Graham Wright spoke to HawksTV to explain what was involved in completing the Jarman Impey deal.

Hawthorn's involvement in this year's NAB AFL Trade Period won't end with Jarman Impey, list and recruiting manager Graham Wright says.

The Hawks secured the ex-Port Adelaide speedster, who grew up in Shepparton, in a pick swap on Thursday afternoon and are now intent on improving their draft position from No.42.

They were already without a first-round selection this year after using it to lure Jaeger O'Meara from the Suns in 2016, then offloaded No.33, 61 and next year's fourth-round pick for Impey. The Power also sent No.67 to Hawthorn.

"I think at this stage our priority will be to try and improve our draft position … so we'll try and do that without affecting anything for next year," Wright told

"We feel as though next year's a good draft, so at this stage we'll try and improve our position with what we've got at the moment … whether that's through picks or players.

"We're unsure at this stage, but nothing is earmarked. Nothing's come up at this stage."

Billy Hartung, Kurt Heatherley, Jonathan O'Rourke and Kade Stewart are the players on Hawthorn's list who are yet to receive a contract for 2018.
