Three Big River Hawks came to Melbourne this week. They came to see the Waverley Park facilities of their Hawthorn namesakes and, during their tour, they paid a visit to the Hawks Museum.

The Museum was delighted to host Big River representatives Malcolm and Jessie Fox and Dwayne Turner as they took in displays of Hawthorn teams and heroes.

The Big River Hawks were founded in 2010 to allow under 18 players from the Katherine region and surrounds to play in the NTFL.  Playing in the Brown & Gold, the club promotes high personal standards in their players’ education and character, as well as their football ability. The tyranny of distance in the Territory means that the Big River players must overcome many challenges. They also help their players aspire to be excellent role models for others in their vast recruiting zone.

The Hawks Museum would like to thank the more than 4,000 visitors who have come from near and far in 2017. We have had Hawthorn supporters and football aficionados from as far away as Canada, the USA, Hong Kong and Scotland and each State and Territory, whilst other visitors have arrived from just around the corner.

We wish all our visitors and Friends of the Hawks Museum a wonderful and safe Christmas and a very Happy Hawks New Year.

If you are planning a Hawks Museum visit, please note that the museum will reopen from the Christmas break on Monday, January 15, 2018.
