Hawthorn women’s side has announced two exciting signings ahead of the 2018 VFLW season.

Lou Wotton and Steph Carroll have both crossed from VFLW rivals the Eastern Devils to become Hawks in 2018.

Wotton is a stalwart of the women’s competition, having played 13 seasons in the Victorian Women’s Football League.

Playing for the Devils, she won the Helen Lambert Medal for the best player in the league twice, as well as four club best and fairest awards and two All Australian guernseys while playing predominately in the ruck.

Last year, the 34-year old was signed by Collingwood as a free agent in the AFLW, where she played three games.

Carroll joins the Hawks after playing 62 games for the Devils, including 14 last year.

Her season highlights included best on ground performances in the Devils’ Round 1 and Round 13 fixtures.

Head of Football Special Projects Rob McCartney says the pair represent important acquisitions for the club.

“Both Lou and Steph have impressive records in state league women’s football,” McCartney said.

“They are both great characters and we are very excited to welcome them into the Hawthorn family.”
