Hawthorn has unveiled its Round 1 team set to face the Pies on Saturday night, with the 22-man line up headlined by the return of Cyril Rioli.

The star forward has been named on the interchange alongside Vice Captain Liam Shiels, who also returns after missing the second JLT clash against Carlton.

According to GM-Football Graham Wright, the Hawks’ match committee had a hard task at the selection table this week, with so many players enjoying solid pre-seasons.

“With a pretty healthy list, there were plenty of players in the selection frame this week and perhaps a few that were unlucky to miss out,” Wright said.

“But we’re confident in the 22 players named. They’ve all worked extremely hard over the summer, and we’re looking forward to putting our systems into practice.”

Jarman Impey will play his first official match in the brown and gold, having crossed from Port Adelaide at the end of the 2017 season.

“We’re thrilled for Jarman,” Wright said.

“He has embraced the culture of our club and slotted into the playing group seamlessly.

“He adds a bit of flair and excitement, so we’re looking forward to see what he can produce this week.”

Tim O’Brien will also line up against the Pies, having overcome the hamstring tightness that held him out of JLT2.
