What does footy mean to us?

Footy means that moment, when the ball lands in your hands.

The adrenaline pumping through your veins, the fans shouting from the stands.

It means running back with the flight, not knowing what is coming.

It’s getting hit, getting hurt, getting knocked to the ground, and then you get up and keep on running.

It’s your body on the line, it’s that tackle oh-so-vicious.

It’s a speccy that makes your spine tingle, or a goal that’s just ‘delicious’.

Footy is that feeling, of rising up from all the rest.

Of holding the cup above your head, of conquering your quest.

Footy means the premierships, but it also means the pain.

It’s being gracious through the losses, then having the guts to go again.

Footy means the hard yards. The hard slog. The heartache.

It’s creating history, then rewriting it. The future’s ours to make.

Footy means standing together, standing up and standing tall.

It’s standing for your teammates, all for one and one for all.

Footy means bringing your game face, letting your alter ego run free.

‘Cos when you’re one out in a contest, you be whoever you need to be.

Footy means the rivalry, the ferocity, the fight.

It’s harnessing our passion, and watching it ignite.

Footy is standing strong as one, because inside we’re all the same.

Boy, girl, man or woman, who cares? We all just love the game.

It’s showing pride in our colours, beating our chests and being bold.

While they see things in black and white, we see the world in gold.

Footy means another shot, a chance to clean the slate.

So, this weekend when we face the Pies, we won’t leave things up to fate.

When you’re in the stands, or on the field, when you’re giving all you’ve got.

Look around, soak up the passion. You’ll see…

Yeah, footy means a lot.
