Hawthorn endurance king Isaac Smith has continued his leading running form in 2018, clocking up the most kilometres of any Hawk after three rounds.

The triple-premiership midfielder, who’s won eight of the club’s last nine preseason time trials, has accumulated 47.6 kms after three games including all-conquering efforts in the Hawks’ clashes with Geelong and Richmond.

Smith racked up 16.2 km against the Cats and 15.6 against the Tigers to beat all comers on both days, while star on-baller Tom Mitchell also sits not too far behind.

Mitchell just edged Smith in the Hawks’ opening round clash with the Magpies, running 15.9kms compared to Smith’s 15.8 and currently sits on a total of 45.5kms.

However one surprise for Hawks fans to come from the GPS data is the efforts of versatile forward Jack Gunston.

Despite playing predominately as a key position player, the 26-year-old led all players on the ground in the Round 1 clash with Collingwood with a 16.5km effort – the best of any Hawks so far this season.

GWS midfielder Tom Scully currently holds the record from the GPS data gathered since the start of the 2017 season with a performance of 18.9kms for the Giants in their preliminary final encounter with Richmond last year.
