James Cousins

27 disposals, 8 tackles, 1 goal

“Another consistent game for him. The conditions were pretty tough for all of our mids, because it was just stoppage after stoppage. He probably had a better second half, which was probably reflective of the team. But he tried hard all day and his workrate has been terrific so far this year. It was sort of a complete game for a midfielder in terms of his contribution: eight tackles, seven clearances, four inside 50s and he’s hit the scoreboard again which is really good. He also ran and carried the ball quite well as well, so he is off to a good start this year.” CN

Ryan Burton

24 disposals, 5 marks, 2 tackles, 2 goals

“’Burts’ came back and played with us and he had a really good attitude on the day. Like most players when they get dropped, he probably had a right to be disappointed but he didn’t let that show on the day and his attitude was terrific. He tried really hard for us and took three marks from opposition kick. He kicked 2.1 from half-back so with the breeze he was quite effective. He stood up when our backs were under pressure. His commitment throughout the day was terrific so it was a good game from him.” CN

James Worpel

18 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 marks

“Worpel played midfield but he tried really hard. I think he had a bit of a tag throughout the second half but he dealt with that pretty well. He had a pretty balanced game, with ten contested and ten uncontested possessions. He loves to get the ball, tuck it and take players on. He is pretty good to watch. He thrives on the contest.” CN

Teia Miles

18 disposals, 2 marks

“He played back again. He looks pretty lively with the ball and he did what he usually does. It wasn’t going to be one of those games where he was going to be overly effective from the back half but he just had to play the percentages and get the thing forward. We will persist with him in the backline. We know he can play forward and we were pretty tempted to throw him forward at one stage but we didn’t. But not a bad game from him.”

Will Langford

18 disposals, 2 marks, 7 tackles

“Another one that came back to us was Will. I thought he competed really hard all day. He played primarily forward, we didn’t really use him on-ball much until the last quarter. But his ability to get it and use his legs out of congestion was really good. So, his buy-in with the group was outstanding on the day. He’s ended up with seven tackles. Again, his attitude was terrific- he got the group in before the game and so his leadership was quite good throughout.” CN

Kieran Lovell

17 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles

“He probably spent more time forward than on-ball this week. He had some really good moments throughout the game, he is starting to use his step and his agility to his advantage more. He finished with 17 disposals as primarily a high forward. He is going to flick between mid and forward most weeks but I think he might get a look for more time on-ball next week.” CN

Kaiden Brand

15 disposals, 6 marks, 1 tackle

“He had 15 disposals and took five marks from the opposition’s boot. He was instrumental in cutting the ball off for us and competing quite hard. He played the percentages quite well and just got the ball to boot on the day. He had quite a few strong spoils throughout the day. Our backmen were really under pressure when we were against the breeze but they held up reasonably well.” CN

Mitch Lewis

14 disposals, 5 marks, 8 tackles, 9 hit-outs, 3 goals

“Mitch hit the scoreboard again, so he has been really consistent in that area. He probably missed a shot at goal he would normally get so could have easily ended up with four as well. He spent a little bit of time in the ruck but his eight tackles were equal best for us on the day. His hunt around the contest was very good on the day and, not only that, when he was in the ruck his ability to push back and help our defenders really saved us. But he continues his really good form.” CN

Dylan Moore

13 disposals, 3 marks, 4 tackles

“Dylan Moore played predominantly on the wing again. I thought he was quite good again. He is learning his craft on the wing there and I thought he got his balance quite well. He missed both but he had a couple of shots at goal and his workrate was terrific. Unfortunately he did injure his shoulder, so he'll most likely miss a couple of weeks.” CN

Dallas Willsmore

13 disposals, 3 marks, 1 tackle

“Dall Willsmore played back. He had 13 disposals, four inside 50s and three rebounds. So, again, our backmen were getting pretty high and, probably more so because of the breeze, but they were able to rebound and get the ball inside our forward 50. That was really important for us and Dall was one of those that contributed in that area.” CN

Jonathan O’Rourke

13 disposals, 2 marks, 5 tackles

“Jono played on-ball and a little bit of wing in the last quarter. It was really hard for our wingmen to get into the game because there wasn’t a lot of free-flowing play. This made it hard for these guys to get into the game I think especially considering it was a skinny ground. But he finished with five tackles and I thought his workrate from contest to contest was terrific.” CN

Conor Nash

10 disposals, 1 mark, 2 tackles, 1 goal

“Nash competed really hard for us. He didn’t get the opportunity to break out and use his legs as much as he did in Round 1. But he still competed really well for us as he continues to learn his craft as a forward.” CN

Marc Pittonet

7 disposals, 2 marks, 6 tackles, 37 hit-outs

“I thought he was our barometer in the start of the third quarter. We needed to lift our intent and workrate and he laid a really heavy tackle and followed up in the ruck. So, he really set the scene for us, I thought. He carried much of the load all day and six tackles is outstanding. That’s an indication of their follow-up work around the ground.” CN
