Hawthorn fans could be seeing Paul Puopolo out on the park as early as next week, with the small forward tracking well in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

“Poppy is going great,” Director of High Performance Andrew Russell said.

“He’s training at 90 – 95 percent now.

“We’re expecting him to miss this week, and then we’re thinking he’s going to be available the week after versus Brisbane.”

Fellow small forward Cyril Rioli has also progressed, despite a tedious start to his recovery from a medial ligament injury.

“Cyril was slow early, but now he’s got going well,” Russell said.

“From here, it’s just how his knee handles straight line running… and then we get him back out into skills and get him going from there.

“We won’t see him in the next two to three weeks, but sometime after that he’ll be ready to go.”
