It was a winning weekend for the Hawks, with the AFL, VFLW and netball teams all registering strong victories.

Hawthorn’s AFL side kicked things off down in Tassie with a 53-point win over Gold Coast. Taylor Duryea provided the highlight of the match (and possibly the round) when he launched himself above three Suns to take a huge grab and propel his name into the ‘Mark of the Year’ conversation.

The Hawks’ netball team then continued the winning trend with an impressive showing against the Yarra Valley Ariels.

The Hawks managed a 13-goal victory over the Ariels in front of a sold-out crowd at the State Basketball Centre.

GD Clare Pettyfor was voted best on court after denying the Ariels’ goalers of several opportunities, while Hawks’ GS Kimberly Commane piled on goals at the other end.

The following morning saw the Hawthorn VFLW side take on Essendon for the second time this season.

While the Bombers were able to slightly reduce the margin after going down by 39 points in Round 1, the Hawks remained dominant from start to finish, finishing 27-point victors at Box Hill City Oval.

While the Box Hill Hawks were unable to round out a weekend of wins, with the VFL side going down to Essendon by 14 points, it was still a hugely successful 48 hours for fans of the brown and gold.
