The Hawks could be buoyed by the return of versatile forward Jack Gunston this weekend, after the star Hawk was a late withdrawal from Hawthorn's Round 15 clash.

Gunston suffered a corked calf early in the win against Gold Coast and was unable to prove his fitness in time for the GWS clash.

"He came out of the game pretty sore but we thought he was a pretty good chance all week," Director of High Performance Andrew Russell said.

"He got to about 80 percent of his full function and then it just didn't improve in the last couple of days.

"He wasn't ready to play, and we will do everything we can to get him up this week.

"He's a test at this stage and he's looking pretty good."

Will Langford will also be a test ahead of this week's game, after disclocating his finger in Saturday's clash, while youngster James Cousins is also in doubt for Box Hill's clash after injurying his adductor.
