James Cousins

30 disposals, four marks, six tackles

“Tried really hard on the day, almost to the point where he was over-trying – trying to get to too many contests and actually looked out on his feet – so his effort was there. His contested stuff is still his main weapon, didn’t hit the scoreboard but tried hard all day.” CN

David Mirra

Four goals, 21 disposals, 10 marks, six tackles

“Mirra played forward, so a bit of a change up for him. We wanted him to play a bit of a role for us and he ended up getting on the end of a few. His contests all day were outstanding, his ability to mark the ball and also bring the ball to ground sometimes against two opponents. We were quite small in the front half so ‘Miz’ was able to come in and provide a real focal point for us and that gives us another option with him going forward, so it could open up a new avenue for him. He went back in the latter stages of the game where we felt like we needed to win the ball back a little bit and the ball just wasn’t going inside 50. Took 10 marks so an outstanding result for him.” CN

Jonathan O’Rourke

18 disposals, four marks, three tackles

“O’Rourke played on-ball and wing. He along with Cousins tried pretty hard, it just probably wasn’t a day that was conducive to doing anything flashy or outstanding for our mids, it was pretty basic footy after half time, just get it on the boot and get it forward.” CN

Kieran Lovell

16 disposals, six marks

“Lovell played probably more forward than on-ball. Had 16 disposals, looked dangerous at times, we’d just like him to get his hands on the ball a little bit more when he can and hit the scoreboard forward when he plays in that position.” CN

Changkuoth Jiath

15 disposals, four marks, four tackles

“CJ played halfback again, he was really courageous with a few marks from the opposition’s boot, just sitting in the hole and sometimes going back with the flight. He looks as though he’s getting more and more comfortable in that position and some really pleasing signs from him.” CN

Tim O’Brien

14 disposals, three marks

“O’Brien played back and then forward in the latter stages of the games. We didn’t provide too many opportunities for him forward in the latter stages of the game. Again, in the second half it was really wet conditions so it was just a matter of bringing it to ground and spoiling the ball. In the first half it was dry so he was able to take a few contested marks and marks from the opposition’s boot and used the ball quite well again.” CN

Conor Glass

13 disposals, three marks

“Probably not the high volume of disposals that he normally gets but still pretty effective when he gets the ball. We like it when he gets the ball under his arm and runs, run and carry is his go and he was able to do that on a couple of occasions. Tried really hard.” CN

Dylan Moore

12 disposals, three marks

“Played on the wing. Probably not a day for the wingman to be honest but 12 disposals, had a shot on goal in the last quarter and just couldn’t quite take that opportunity. His GPS results are always really high, he tried to get back and help our defence as much as possible and he’ll build on that.” CN

Oliver Hanrahan

Two Goals, 11 disposals

“Played more forward than on-ball and kicked a couple of really good goals for us. Got on the end of some handy work for us from Mirra and Murph and kicked one from the goal square. Also had a really good crumbing goal and snapped it on his left. His tackling pressure is something that he’s trying to work on and is something that we’ll continue to evolve with his game.” CN

Kurt Heatherley

10 disposals, four marks

“Just one of those games where he tried really hard and nothing really flashy but couldn’t really get too much sort of damaging counter attack. Just one of those days for the defenders where they just had to do what they had to do, bring the ball to ground and try and compete as much as possible. None of their talls got a hold of us so Kurt did a pretty good job there.” CN

Dallas Willsmore

Nine disposals, five marks

“Again, not really a day for wingmen so didn’t really have much of an impact throughout the game.” CN

Jackson Ross

One goal, seven disposals, four marks

“Was creative with ball in hand going inside 50. Had two goal assists so his ability to bring others into the game while kicking one himself is a good result. Just needs to get it in his hands a bit more.” CN
