Box Hill will kick off the September action this Saturday afternoon, as the VFL side takes on Port Melbourne in an elimination battle at North Port Oval.

Chris Newman welcomes a host of AFL-listed talent into his 27-man squad, including Daniel Howe, who will return for his first game since being suspended in Round 18 against Carlton.

Key tall Kaiden Brand is also named and will be important with no Kurt Heatherley (hamstring) to control the backline. Port Melbourne’s Jordan Lisle presents a dangerous task up forward, so Brand’s influence may prove pivotal.

Midfielder James Cousins and crafty half-back Taylor Duryea also come back after a week off, while Teia Miles rejoins Newman’s squad for the first time since Round 13, having played the last two months at AFL level.

Skipper Andrew Moore is the only Box Hill-listed player named in the starting 18, but Newman will have a range of VFL talent to choose from on the extended bench, with the team unlikely to be finalised until Saturday morning.

With no AFL football on show all Hawks fans are encouraged to attend. Those planning on coming can skip the queues by pre-booking tickets here.

The game will also be live streamed via vfl.com.au.
