The AFL has announced the 2019 JLT Community Series fixture with Hawthorn set to meet Brisbane in their opening game of the pre-season.

The Hawks will head to Burpengary, 35km north of Brisbane, to face the Lions on Sunday March 3 at 12.40pm.

It sets up an enthralling start to the Hawks 2019 campaign given that the Lions got the better of them on two occasions in the 2018 home and away season.

The Hawks will then travel down to Tasmania where they will play Richmond at UTAS on Saturday March 9 at 7.10pm.

The full 2019 home-and-away fixture will be released on Wednesday.
