Hawthorn Football Club has signed Darren Minchington from St Kilda for the 2019 season.

Minchington joins the Hawks as a delisted free agent, after seven seasons with the Saints.

The 24-year-old was drafted at pick 65 in the 2011 Rookie Draft, debuting in 2013 against the Hawks.

He was struck down with injuries over the past five years, which saw him play only 28 games at AFL level.

National Recruiting Manager, Mark McKenzie is confident that the powerful midfielder will be a great asset to the Hawks.

“Darren has been unlucky with injury during his career, but we have seen him excel in the VFL despite these challenges,” McKenzie said.

“Darren is a young man of great character and we look forward to working with him to maximise his full potential.”
