Josh Gibson and Jordan Lewis were awarded eight votes each in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award for their strong performances in front of over 70,000 fans at the MCG on Easter Monday.

The votes of Alastair Clarkson and Chris Scott reflected the Hawks’ win over the Cats with seven Hawthorn players being awarded all 30 votes.

Jordan Lewis was outstanding during Hawthorn’s 62-point victory as the 2014 Peter Crimmins Medallist racked up a game-high 35 disposals, 13 marks, four tackles in addition to four hitouts. Gibson was invaluable from the back with 26 disposals, 11 marks and two tackles.

Shaun Burgoyne was awarded six votes for his impressive showing in the clash as he grabbed 18 possessions, laid six tackles and took two marks.

Luke Breust was awarded four votes as he led from the front with a game-high five goals in addition to 14 disposals and seven marks.

Hawks skipper Luke Hodge was given two votes for his role in the victory. Hodge was instrumental, walking away with 27 disposals, six tackles, seven marks and three hitouts.

Paul Puopolo was awarded one vote as he kicked three goals, laid five tackles, had 15 disposals and took four marks (including an early contender for Mark of the Year, with the smallest player on the ground rising above Jed Bews, Jared Rivers and Ben McEvoy to take a spectacular grab).

2014 Coleman Medallist Jarryd Roughead rounded out the voting as he took the last remaining vote for his efforts in the 62-point demolition. Roughead kicked three goals, laid six tackles and had 12 disposals.
